Autumn (Sep–Nov) is the golden window — first powerful Atlantic swells, warm water, fewer tourists and the summer NE onshores fading away. Spring is great for experienced surfers. Winter brings the biggest swells for experts; summer is smaller and ideal for beginners.
Summer (Jun–Aug) delivers the glassy, calm mornings SUP dreams are made of — head out early before the afternoon breeze. Sheltered rías (Ribadesella, Villaviciosa, Navia), harbours (Cudillero, Luarca, Llanes) and the shallow pool at Poo work even on windier days.
